Houston Pride

project overview
July interprets Blast Off as Houston’s legacy of exploration, innovation, and collective momentum. Rather than illustrating space literally, the composition layers mechanical fragments, schematic marks, and human figures to suggest motion, pressure, and launch. Repetition, rotation, and collision create a sense of propulsion, while fragmented imagery reflects the complexity of the systems behind progress. The limited Riso palette amplifies contrast and energy, reinforcing Houston as a city defined not by a single trajectory, but by constant acceleration toward the future. August explores Astroturf as both material innovation and cultural symbol. The composition blends organic textures with industrial diagrams and athletic references, collapsing the boundary between natural and synthetic environments. Gestural marks and rough textures evoke movement and wear, while repeated mechanical forms suggest fabrication and control. By reducing the imagery to high-contrast layers and a restrained color palette, the month reflects Houston’s ability to engineer its own terrain — a city that adapts, rebuilds, and performs regardless of conditions.
